ADRIENNE'S STORY

From Book To Board Game: My Story

Over twenty years ago, I had a spiritual experience so profound that I remember thinking, one day I will write a book.

It was an easy thing to say and a much harder thing to do.

Over time, writing Unravel You became something I felt deeply called to pursue. What I did not realize then was that it would eventually lead to a board game, a podcast, and work dedicated to helping women reconnect with themselves and find their light.

My Journey of Self-Realization

I have faced adversity, rebuilding, and major turning points in many areas of my life, from leaving a marriage and raising four daughters to navigating the pressures of business through difficult economic times.

Those experiences changed me. They challenged me to reflect more deeply on who I was beneath the roles, responsibilities, and expectations I had carried for years.

At one point, I realized I had lost sight of myself in the process of taking care of everyone and everything around me.

Writing Unravel You became part of my own journey of reflection and self-discovery. As I connected the dots across my experiences, I uncovered patterns, lessons, wisdom, and strength that had been shaping me all along.

That journey helped me reconnect with myself, rediscover what matters most, and better understand what truly makes me come alive.

Today, much of my work is about helping others do the same.

The Story Of Unravel You

Before I began writing, I asked my four daughters for permission to write openly about our journey together as mother and daughters. Without knowing exactly what would unfold on the pages, they fully supported my decision to become an author and trusted me to tell our story.

Writing Unravel You was a transformational experience. Every morning I sat down to write, I was often surprised by what emerged on the page.

What unfolded was not just one part of my story, but pieces of my whole life, the highs, the lows, the joy, the pain, and the lessons woven throughout each experience.

Through the process, I came to understand that we are a sum of all our parts.

As I unraveled my experiences, thread by thread, I began to see how deeply interconnected the different parts of my life truly were.

I gained clarity about different stages of my journey and realized that experiences I thought I had long forgotten were still influencing me in unexpected ways.

I also discovered there were people I needed to forgive, people I had not even realized I was still carrying within me. That forgiveness became freeing. It released emotions and weight I had held onto for years and allowed me to move forward with greater clarity, peace, and purpose.

From Book To Board Game

When I set out to write Unravel You, I never imagined it would eventually lead to creating a board game.

After two years of writing, I finally submitted my first draft, and it felt like a huge weight had lifted. For the first time in a long time, I could breathe again. The process had consumed so much of my life that one evening, my husband Bob jokingly asked if we would ever talk about anything other than the book.

The very morning I submitted my manuscript, Bob and I were walking to a coffee shop when I casually said, “If I seem quiet, it’s because I’m observing people and thinking about a board game.”

I had no idea what it would become or how it would take shape. I just knew it had to happen.

Over the next few days, I let the idea simmer while observing the world around me. Then, on a whim, I went to a local dollar store and picked up sticky notes, a whiteboard, and a few sparkly decorations.

That night, home alone, I spread everything out and started piecing ideas together. Just like that, the first version of Now You're Talking® was born.
